On November 7, 2008, four of the members of the Order of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary traveled 3 hours to Columbus, Ohio. The Order was invited to participate in a bi-annual gathering of Catholic teens from across the United States: the National Catholic Youth Conference. Brother Francis, Sister Teresa, Sister Maria and Brother James had no idea what they were in for. They were blessed to discover that 20,000 youth traveling by bus, plane, car or foot were excited about their faith, or ready to become so. The brothers and sisters were there to represent the Order, along with religious from 40 other communities, to all who might be interested in discerning a vocation. Even more than giving out information they were called to be the presence of Jesus and Mary to all they met. Over the 3 days of the conference they met hundreds of teens and adults. They joined in the activities, the prayer and the joy with which the youth were seeking to "Discover the Way" (the NCYC 2007 theme). Whether it was at Mass and Adoration, or basketball and dodge ball, they sought to be a light to these future lights in the Church. At the end of the 3 days they were exhausted but rejoicing in the accomplishment of their mission.
